An Integration of American and Thai Youth

Author: Gabe
Location: Sun Siam Amusement/Water Park
Today we danced, then we danced some more. We had the privilege of being able to see the kids from the Klong Toei youth group perform their routine for us. As they danced, they did so with enthusiasm and exuberance. It is their dancing that gives them the vitality to succeed. The fact that they lived in such an impoverished community only fortified their camaraderie. I was able to get to know the kids very well in the course of only two days. The leader of the group, Sharp, told me he wanted to be a fireman. Some of the girls who have graduated are now taking college courses. I can only admire the sense of self-sacrifice from the youth's parents. They have ridden themselves of most of their ambitions and waywardness (that I know I would hold on to) so their children can succeed. And I can only revere the sense of confidence and tenacity the younger generation has in order to succeed.

Sightseeing in Bangkok: Grand Palace, Longtail Boat Rides, Shopping, Wat Pho, Massages

Author: Jamie
Location: Bangkok
Poverty: I've never seen such a case, yet people are so naive to the conditions they live in because they are so happy. This city is know for it's incredible templs and ancient roots, but beneath the surface there lies and entire other culture: one in which people don't have two coins to rub together and this is truly humbling.
